NHL reviewing gesture made by Blackhawks' Quenneville

The coach had a crude response to a call in Thursday's loss to the Blues

The league will look into Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville's reaction during the team's 4-3 triple-overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night, according to a source.

Quenneville was visibly angry when officials conferred about a potential delay-of-game penalty that ultimately was not called in the second overtime. Blues forward Ryan Reaves was already in the penalty box for delay of game; but another delay-of-game call was not assessed, denying the Blackhawks some 5-on-3 power play time.

As of now, no fine has been assessed.

Quenneville was last fined in April of 2012 ($10,000) for making public critical comments of officiating in Game 3 of the Blackhawks' first-round series against the Phoenix Coyotes. That was the game Marian Hossa suffered a concussion from a high hit by Raffi Torres, who was not penalized during the game.
