Robin Van Persie gave United the lead, then Radamel Falcao and an own goal from Wes Morgan made it 3-0 at the break.

Leicester pulled one back late on through Marcin Wasilewski, but it was only to be a consolation as the Foxes stay bottom on 17 points. As for United, they climb above Southampton into third place on 43 points but the Saints have a game in hand.

After an even opening to the match where United had plenty of possession, the Red Devils burst into life midway through the half.

Van Persie opened up the scoring with a typically clicnical finish as the Dutchman looked to have strayed slightly offside but the flag stayed down.

RVP was then involved in United’s second which came just five minutes later. He played the ball out to Angel Di Maria and the Argentine playmaker saw his shot saved by Mark Schwarzer. But the rebound fell straight to Falcao who knocked home his fourth Premier League goal for the Red Devils to make it 2-0 United.

Just before halftime, United went 3-0 up as Daley Blind flicked on a corner at the near post and Morgan directed the ball into his own net. The rout was well on and truly on.

In the second half Leicester aimed to avoid embarassment as they brought on Esteban Cambiasso for Jamie Vardy to try and shut down United’s rampant attack.

Leonardo Ulloa then had a great chance to grab a goal for Leicester as a long ball upfield found the South American, but as he raced away he slipped at a vital moment.

The Foxes did grab a consolation goal late in the game as center back Wasilewski headed home to make it 3-1 and that’s how things finished.
