Despite dominating proceedings City took until the stroke of halftime to take the lead with David Silva finally beating an inspired Mark Schwarzer. The 42-year-old Leicester goalkeeper pulled off save after save, and then Riyad Mahrez smashed the post with Leicester’s best chance of the game.

Late on James Milner sealed the win for City as they stay second and have 58 points, while Leicester remain bottom on 18 points.

Man City dominated the first half as Wilfried Bony had a host of chances to score with Schwarzer in sensational form. City’s new striker shanked an effort over the bar after being picked out by Silva, while Jesus Navas was denied by Schwarzer as City piled on the pressure.

Leicester barely threatened going forward but in the 23rd minute Mahrez played in Kramaric and the Croatian strike was denied by Joe Hart as City held on. Despite that scare City continued to press forward and on the stroke of halftime the opening goal arrived as Aleksandar Kolarov whipped in a cross from the left which Bony missed but Silva tucked the ball home at the second attempt.

In the second half, Schwarzer made another fantastic save as Aguero headed back across goal but Leicester’s veteran goalkeeper once again thwarted City. At the other end Jamie Vardy went close, then David Nugent somehow put over the bar from four yards out but the Leicester forward would have been relieved to see the offside flag go up.

Yaya Toure went close to doubling City’s lead but, you guessed it, Schwarzer denied him. Then Leicester came agonizingly close to equalizing as Mahrez thundered a shot against the post with Hart rooted to the spot, but the ball came back out and Man City managed to clear.

Late on, Milner sealed the win for City, as Navas whipped in a great ball which the England midfielder finished off. Hardly a vintage display from the Citizens, but they got the job done.
