Mad Dash: James Franklin makes bet with LLWS player

The Lewisberry, Penn., Little League team may not have won the World Series, but their brush with fame created some pretty cool moments over the weekend, and our favorite may have been from a camp visit with the Penn State football team. While there, Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin bet second baseman Braden Kolmansberger 30 push ups for his team or 30 up-downs for the Little Leaguers over Kolmansberger being able to hit a 35-yard field goal, no small task for a 13-year old. What happened next was awesome, as Kolmansberger went full-out on his kick, smashing the ball through the uprights with plenty of room to spare. That kick and the team's run to the championship game were more than enough proof that the players are cooler under pressure than most of us will ever be.

The Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas put on a wiener dog race over the weekend, yet it wasn't the race itself that got our attention, but the rogue contestant that darted all over the field afterward. You'd pretty much expect any dog that got loose on a baseball field to explore every single spot it could, since it's like a magical grass carpet straight out of dog heaven. He was caught after a glorious two minutes of freedom.

When the Nationals announced Jayson Werth's new bobblehead, everyone focused on one thing: His gaping mouth. So it's not too surprising that not long after, the team has announced it is postponing the giveaway to correct the distracting facial expression that's taken away from the original spirit of the figurine. Now we just need to find an original to sell eBay.
