Mad Dash: Arizona Cardinals hire NFL's first-ever female coaching intern

Jen Welter is making history as the first woman to be hired to an NFL coaching position of any kind as she assumes her role as a coaching intern for the Arizona Cardinals, but if anything, she's overqualified for the position. Welter played collegiate rugby, then 14 years in a women's professional football league, is the first non-kicker woman to play in a men's league, and holds a PhD in psychology. That's a pretty absurd professional history for an intern, but with that grumble out of the way, it's still pretty exciting to see Bruce Arians giving her the shot on his staff. We're hoping we see a lot more of her in the future.

We're also ready for football season to be back already, but probably not as ready as Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones. He and his teammates were pranked by Ohio State staffers in the team facilities, and the camera was rolling to catch each player diving for cover as they were spooked by a "mannequin" modeling the team's uniform. The reactions were great, but nothing beats Jones's barrel roll.

Gilbert Arenas was so hot shooting hoops at the Orange County Fair that he said he got banned on Instagram. It turns out that's not technically true, but his haul from the games was entertaining nonetheless. Arenas did do enough to get shut down in one day, though. The apparent rules at the fair state that you can only win one prize per game, per day, and Arenas clearly achieved the feat judging by the hoard of stuffed animals his family posed with in their picture. But today is a new day and if Arenas and his brood want to go another round, they're more than welcome to dominate and get shut down again, so if you're running a basketball game at the fair and see Arenas coming, there's nothing you can do to stop him. You might as well get your best prize ready for gifting.
