It was almost printed in the record books that cool, rather uneventful early Spring evening in Boston. The Bruins looked like they were finished in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference playoff series against the Leafs. The Leafs had practically run the Bruins out of their own building. Boston trailed by three goals with 11 minutes remaining, and TD Bank Garden had all the excitement of a library.
But Nathan Horton’s goal created a spark, then a goal by Milan Lucic added fuel to the fire. By the time Patrice Bergeron scored to tie the game with 51 seconds remaining, the arena was a rolling inferno of emotion. Few doubted that the Bruins would finish their historic comeback, which Bergeron did six minutes into the overtime period. It was a night Boston fans will remember for the rest of their lives.
