Willett awarded lifetime European Tour membership

Matt Adams reports on Danny Willett being awarded an honorary lifetime membership in the European Tour. 

Willett says he is not fazed by expectations coming his way as the headline at this week’s BMW PGA Championship. The 29-year-old has just played twice since his surprising win at the Masters in April.

He recently missed the cut at the Players Championship and took a first-round lead at the Irish Open before dropping back to 23rd in an event won by Rory McIlroy.

The notable absence of some of the European stars illustrates the fact that this isn’t the most popular of events on the schedule.
