Curran says penalty that cost Patriots was coaching mistake

Tom E. Curran and Mike Giardi join SportsNet Central on CSNNE to break down the New York Jets overtime victory against the New England Patriots. The biggest story of the game was an overtime penalty that negated a missed field goal and gave the Jets a first down. The rule being enforced was a rather obscure one, but New York made its next field goal attempt to win the game. The flag came as a result of Patriots rookie defensive tackle Chris Jones pushing a teammate from behind in order to gain leverage while rushing the kick. So instead of a missed field goal and great field position for the Patriots, the first-of-its-kind penalty led to a second chance and 15 extra yards for the Jets. Curran, the Patriots Insider for, said that the mistake was caused by a coaching oversight.
