Greg Norman posted on social media Saturday night that he nearly severed his left hand in a chainsaw accident.

In a caption on an Instagram post, he wrote: “Working with a chainsaw ALWAYS be respectful of the unexpected. I was one lucky man today. Damaged, but not down & out. Still have left hand.”

Golf Channel insider Tim Rosaforte reported that Norman, 59, had undergone surgery to repair nerve damage and sustained no damage to his arteries or tendons.

On Sunday morning, Norman posted that he was “all well” the day after the accident and thanked fans for the support and well wishes.

Last week, Norman posted a picture of himself trimming a small tree, with the caption: “Time to trim the sea grapes today. Never ask someone to do something that you can do yourself. Love to work!”

BALTIMORE –- Twenty-four hours from now, the Orioles hope to be celebrating. Their first American League East title in 17 years is one win away.

The Orioles, who haven’t won a division title since 1997, haven’t clinched an AL East title at home with a win since 1969, the first year of divisional play.

“It’s pretty special to come in here tomorrow and have a chance to do that,” manager Buck Showalter said. “I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights for a lot of reasons, but tonight I look forward to losing that sleep. It’s been a long hard grind to have that opportunity and I’m looking forward to the chance to see our guys get a chance tomorrow. We’ve worked hard for this opportunity tomorrow.”

The Orioles’ 5-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays before 25,061 at Oriole Park on Monday reduced their magic number to one. They could clinch the American League East on Tuesday. For now, they’re assured of a tie.

The night didn’t start out well.

  • Chip Kelly on Andrew Luck: 'He's in that Manning, Brady category'

NBC Sports at NBC on Yahoo Sports22 hrs ago

There’s plenty to like about Andrew Luck. Chip Kelly outlined just a few of the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback’s most admirable traits.

“He’s 6-4, 235 pounds. He’s the smartest guy you’re going to go against,” Kelly said Thursday as the Eagles prepared to battle the Colts on Monday night in a nationally televised game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“He can make every throw in the book and he also runs a 4.65 (in the 40-yard dash). I think what separates Andrew from a lot of other great quarterbacks is that he has that ability to extend plays, not only staying in the pocket but he can hurt you running the football.

“You can look it up. He had a lot of 50-plus runs in college, and that’s rare for a quarterback that size. Usually, you get a smaller quarterbacks that can beat you with his feet and is really nimble. He can do all of these other things. But when you look at him the first thing that kind of strikes you is how big he is in person, and then he’s one of the most intelligent guys that we’ve faced and certainly that we’ll face in this league.”
