  • Sterling loses in court, sale of Clippers to Ballmer now clear

NBC Sports at NBC on Yahoo Sports11 hrs ago

Donald Sterling, done in by his own idiocy several times over, has effectively run out of chances to keep the Clippers any longer than it takes to complete the paperwork of a sale.

Make no mistake, Sterling was going to lose his team no matter what. He was essentially fighting for which method of removal would end his demonstrably racist reign.

This is how he goes down, losing a legal battle to prevent his wife, Shelly Sterling, from selling the team on his behalf. Shelly will soon make her $2 billion sale to Steve Ballmer thanks to a judge’s ruling today.

    Per the NBA release:

The following statement has been issued by Mike Bass, Executive Vice President, Communications, regarding today’s probate court ruling regarding the Sterling Family Trust:

“We are pleased that the court has affirmed Shelly Sterling’s right to sell the Los Angeles Clippers to Steve Ballmer.  We look forward to the transaction closing as soon as possible.”

“Beal is a tremendous player, I love watching him.” Durant said. “One of those players that’s going to be a thrill to watch for the next 10-15 years and he’s a player for my hometown team so I love him. I also like Wall; he’s one of my great friends and I’m glad he’s here.”

But when posed with the potential of leaving Oklahoma in 2016 when his current deal is up, Durant was quick to backtrack on his adoration for Washington D.C. “I also love where I’m at right now, so I can’t answer that question.”

  • Houston Texans playing it safe with Arian Foster at practice

NBC Sports at NBC on Yahoo Sports11 hrs ago

The Texans played much of last season without running back Arian Foster because of a back injury, making life more difficult for their offense and creating some worry when Foster had to leave Sunday’s practice early.

The good news is that the reason for his departure, which came with the assistance of a cart, didn’t seem to have anything to do with his back. He was getting his legs stretched out on the sideline before riding the cart to the trainer’s room and the Texans didn’t express much concern about his status.

“Is Arian OK? As far as I know,” coach Bill O’Brien said, via CSNHouston.com.
