Washington Nationals reliever Ian Krol has his own customized Air Jordan cleats (Photo)

Washington Nationals rookie relief pitcher Ian Krol is from Hinsdale, IL., which is a suburb of Chicago that boasts a very nice car dealership that I used to gawk at on the way to visiting my grandfather’s apartment. Because Krol is a Hinsdale native, he is presumably a Chicago Bulls fan, and even though the Chicago Bulls’ 72-win 1995-96 took place when Ian was just five years-old, that shouldn’t preclude him from becoming a fan of one of the finest shoes of all time: Michael Jordan’s playoff version of the Air Jordan 11, the shoes that MJ wore during the 1996 NBA playoffs.

One problem? Krol’s a baseball player. The dude needs cleats to wear as he takes to the mound. This is where Custom Cleats stepped in. Via Krol’s Twitter account, and Dan Steinberg:

Those are nice. And one would hope that Major League Baseball, in learning from the NBA’s 1986 mistake with the Air Jordan brand, would let the man play in these cleats.

You remember that mistake, right?
