Video: Russell Westbrook makes the TNT crew go nuts

TNT's NBA coverage has always stood out from its competition in that the announcers and analysts actually seem to be having a great time -- not just a marketer's approximation of what a great time looks and sounds like -- watching and talking about basketball. They make fun of each other, get excited after great plays, and call out bad teams and players for what they are. It's a little like watching a game with your friends, if your friends were former basketball players not allowed to say bad words.

Late in the second quarter of Thursday night's Thunder-Kings game, Russell Westbrook did something that made TNT announcers Kevin Harlan, Chris Webber and Reggie Miller react like three guys at your local bar. Moving off a screen from Kevin Durant, Westbrook drove to his right into the lane and took off from way back for a tomahawk slam. It was the most athletic play of the night, in any game, and so the TNT trio whooped, screamed, hollered, yelped and yawped in ways that communicated the sheer excitement of seeing another person do something only a few people in the world can do.

Watch the video above, via our friends at the Yahoo! Sports Minute, and try to be any more articulate in your reaction. You will probably fail.

Does the Gronk not care that they lost? I'm sure Brady still laying in his bed in the fetal position.

The comments made about the Kings deserve an apology from the commentators. Thank goodness the Kings won and proved all of them wrong- especially Shaq.

What a silly highlight. Any 5 guys on a college team could have dunked with no one guarding them. And the announcer's reaction: #$%$?? They start shouting for no apparent reason, like someone just tased them out of some stupor. How stupid.

No one guarding? Evans was run into by Kevin Durant on a missed pick and Westbrook was so fast on the crossover that on one could react in time. It's a fantastic play #$%$

Pay me some NBA money. I'll at least TRY to play some defense as someone is dunking.

I dunno, making an unguarded shot from 0 feet, if you're tall and athletic enough to do it...yeah, it's impressive and all, but it's about the millionth dunk I've seen. A very nice one, yeah, but..#$%$? That's got to be an issue with basketball marketing.Blake's was better because he took a good hard shot from Perkins and was still able to put it in over/through him.

You can call it 0 feet, that's where it finished. Look where he freaking took off and how high he got. He was "unguarded" after he lost his man with lighting quick speed off the screen. And at 6' 3 he was so tall that it was unimpressive.

actually that looked ordinary and many players do that quite often. Blake, Durant, Lebron, Shannon Brown..so the F what?!

Great dunk. I was watching this game, and even as a life-long Kings fan, this dunk brought me out of my seat. Loved the dunk, glad the Kings won.

P.S. Please quit showing dunks as highlights. Unless there's blood on the floor, a dunk is NOT a highlight. Especially a no defense dunk. Who cares?
