Video: Please welcome our new robot basketball overlords

Ball Don't Lie

There are new technological advancements in the world of basketball everyday. Think for a minute about video that allows referees to get the correct time on the clock in the closing minutes, or NBA League Pass Broadband, or shooting sleeves that instantly make players' elbows feel perfect.

Pretty soon, there will just be robots playing the sport for us, kind of like the boxers in the sure-to-be-smash-hit film "Real Steel," starring Hugh Jackman. Above, see the first in the line of expert robot hoopsters, as created by two scientists in an indeterminate Eastern European country. This prototype needs some work, but it should only be a matter of time before this friendly robot is launching threes and showing little effort, just like human European Vladimir Radmanovic(notes).

Plus, when the robots eventually turn on their scientists/coaches, it really won't be much different from the current NBA.
