Video: Matt Barnes is legitimately upset with former coach Mo Cheeks

Mo Cheeks is responsible for perhaps the coolest thing we've seen on a basketball court since Michael Jordan retired from the Bulls. He's a respected basketball mind, a trusted leader on a championship-winning Philadelphia 76ers squad from 1983, and purportedly an all-around good guy.

To everyone, it seems, but former 76er Matt Barnes. Barnes clearly has quite a bit of pent up anger and clearly deserved resentment built up towards his former Philadelphia coach, and though dropping 25 points in this game obviously helped, Barnes didn't waste a second in dishing on Cheeks in his interview with Dan LeBatard on 'Dan LeBatard is Highly Questionable' on Tuesday:

The entire interview is an absolute must-watch. Please do.

I like Barnes game and have since UCLA, sometimes his head gets in the way with his attitude. Like he pointed out, that's what keeps him in the game.

Let's see - Maurice Cheeks or Matt Barnes?
      Barnes is a well-paid knucklehead, Cheeks is a well-paid non-knucklehead.

I respect Matt Barnes a lot. Showed true honesty in this interview. I definitely agree with his last answer.

It doesn't make him a good basketball player...

ESPN's Michael Wilbon said last season that Matt Barnes never starts any fights, but he sure does end them. There's a reason this guy is still in the league people. He's the kind of guy everyone wants to play with, but no one wants to play against, because while most guys talk the talk, Barnes actually walks the walk on the court, and if you mess with one of his teammates, you'd better get ready to deal Barnes, because he'll bring the pain like a doberman protecting its last meal.

Maybe Mo was calling him out on purpose because he knew it would make Matt work even harder.

Annoying persona on the court, but actually pretty down-to-earth and reasonable in this interview.

I would have never expected an "old school" guy like Mo Cheeks to treat a player like that. Way to use his comments as a motivator. The part about not abandoning your child shows just how real this guy is.

dang, How can a coach at any level especially pro talk to a player like that? The ego's of some people astound me. Glad he is with the lakeshow. Hope guy like him never give up on that dream and dont let some foolio stop them....Politics.....

SO, MO CHEEKS ASKED HIM NOT TO PRACTICE LONG JUMPERS IN PRACTICE,SHOTS THAT HE WAS NEVER GONNA GET IN THE GAME.AND HE DIDN'T WANNA HEAR THAT FROM HIS COACH. NOW I UNDERSTAND HOW HE WAS "DISRESPECTED".

What lucky boys to have Matt for a father, you can tell they are his world, and they are adorable.
Matt is a good role model and a heck of a nice guy.

So..you were there? You saw it happen? Why didn't you call the cops? Don't start rumors unless you can back em up.

Barnes is an NBA scrub, the reason he never got minutes for the sixers is because he was not good enough, its that straightforward. Just because he is a good dad does not mean he should get more playing time on the court lol
