With the clock winding down in the first quarter of the Boston Celtics' preseason showdown against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, Celtics swingman Marquis Daniels(notes) received an inbounds pass from center Semih Erden(notes), took two dribbles and fired a missile from a step inside halfcourt. The result of that play?
But while most NBA players would show at least a teensy bit of emotion after draining a period-ending prayer, even in a preseason game of no ultimate consequence, as WEEI.com's Paul Flannery reminds us, Marquis Daniels isn't most NBA players. As such, he calmly and immediately walked off the court and accepted some praise from his way-more-excited teammates, all without dropping the Marcel Marceau routine.
Quisy F. Baby's stoicism might be surprising to some, but not to anyone who happened to catch his performance during the photo session at this season's Media Day, where he showed the league's shutterbugs that Greg Oden(notes) isn't the only player in the league with chameleonic tendencies. Feast your eyes, after the jump:
A man with a diamond-encrusted necklace of his own head craves not these things.
