Mike Singletary is burning out as coach of the San Francisco 49ers. Ted Williams was hopeless as manager of the Washington Senators. Magic Johnson had no chance as interim coach of the Los Angeles Lakers 16 years ago. Could you imagine Kobe Bryant(notes) or Michael Jordan coaching anyone? Slackers would be lucky to get to halftime without two swollen eyes.

Stars, history tells us, usually don't make great coaches. There are exceptions, though. And Manu Ginobili(notes) might make one of them. Check out this video, especially around the one-minute mark.

That's Manu calling the shots, with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich's full blessing. And though the Spurs All-Star hilariously only uses his left arm to call the shots (as he does on the court), his pointers paid off as Gary Neal(notes) (finishing a play that, we should point out, has been in Coach Pop's playbook for years) nailed a 3-pointer to win the game for San Antonio.

Nice call, Manu. And as much stick as we give people like Gilbert Arenas(notes), with stars getting smarter and more and more patient away from the pressures of having to actually run the plays, it makes you wonder if a guy like Gil couldn't be a great coach at this level.
