Video: Kevin Seraphin, totally Krossed out

Ball Don't Lie

In just under 15 minutes of floor time during Monday night's game between the New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards, Kevin Seraphin(notes) didn't make too much of an impact with his production — he didn't score (although he did have a nice follow dunk just after the third-quarter buzzer that the officials waved off), grabbed three rebounds and committed three fouls.

He did, however, make an impact in the wardrobe/laughs department by checking into the game with his shorts on backward, thus extending Washington's uniform faux-pas streak to two games. (The Wizards also extended their way-less-fun road losing streak to 21 games.)

Take it away, Michael Lee of The Washington Post:

... [the Wizards] keep finding ways to make mistakes, including forgetting how to put on their clothes.

Kevin Seraphin is a rookie, but he's played enough games this season to know which direction his shorts should go on. But there he was taking off his shorts and turning them around on the bench in the second period, in one of the more awkward scenes you'll ever witness.

Sure, the bench part was awkward and many Wiz fans may have wound up shaking their heads at Seraphin's sartorial blunder. Really, though, we should all be shaking our heads at ourselves, because by exchanging hearty chuckles at Seraphin's error, we're missing out on a golden opportunity. Consider the following:

International readers ("Int'l read'rs"): If the clip above isn't rocking for you, please feel free to peruse the reversal courtesy of m0l0k0vell0cet well, there no longer appear to be clips available on YouTube. Maybe you should try this?

FACT: It's been 20 years since Jermaine Dupri reverse-engineered two 11-year-olds into a pop music phenomenon;

FACT: It's a commonly accepted style maxim that fashion is cyclical;

FACT: Seraphin is French, hailing from Cayenne, French Guiana; and

FACT: France is way fancy.

What I'm saying is, I think the haters are all wrong on this one, and we should let Kevin's breakthrough point us toward a new fashion-forward era in which fashion is once again backward. And I'm not just blithely saying that; I'm putting my money where my mouth is.

As I write this sentence, not only am I wearing my boxer briefs and undershirt Bizarro style — I've gone one step further and unhooked one button on my customary overalls, leaving an attractive, inviting flap across the front back of my limited edition Looney Tunes print hoodie. And you know what? I'm not uncomfortable. Sure, my co-workers might be, but I'm willing to pay that price for fashion.
