Tony Allen’s layup was pretty tired, so it took a nap on the rim (Video)

Well, this is something you don't see every day:

Of course this would happen on a Tony Allen layup.

I'm just hoping his Memphis Grizzlies teammates don't fine him $100 for this missed layup, because that would just seem unfair. Then again, most contracts drawn up in locker-room kangaroo courts explicitly include an "Acts of God" clause, so the grit-and-grind shooting guard is probably safe from financial penalty here. In fact, getting your shot to rest on the rim might wind up being a lucrative opportunity for Allen. I hear the Atlanta Hawks are always looking for new halftime-show talent.

Allen missed six of his nine field-goal attempts during Tuesday night's Game 5 against the Los Angeles Clippers, including five that didn't just develop agency and decide to hang out on the heel, to score six points in 33 1/2 minutes of burn. But he also grabbed eight rebounds, dished four assists, posted two steals and two blocks, and played his customary brand of sticky defense as Memphis scored a huge 103-93 road win at Staples Center to take a 3-2 lead in their best-of-seven Western Conference playoff series. The Grizz can close the Clippers out in Game 6, scheduled for Friday night at FedEx Forum in Memphis.
