Earlier this week, it was my distinct pleasure to share with you a video of Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo taking part in a duet performance of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" during an Indiana University showcase. It is now my distinct pleasure to share with you San Antonio Spurs reserves Patty Mills and Boris Diaw taking part in a duet performance of "Killing Me Softly," the Fugees' 1995 cover of Roberta Flack's 1973 No. 1 hit single, during a visit to Locos Grill & Pub in Georgia — perhaps after their recent preseason matchup with the Atlanta Hawks? — which just so happened to be hosting a karaoke night.

The pleasure here comes from a very different place than it did in Oladipo's case, but that doesn't lessen it one iota. Please, now, enjoy San Antonio's secret singing sensations:
So, yeah — it seems fair to say that neither Patty nor Boris have quite the same sort of pipes as Victor. If nothing else, though, I think we can agree that noted celebrator Mills brings an admirable amount of passion to his performance. Boris, however, remains somewhat predictably aloof and imperious. (Maybe he's more of a private-room karaoke guy. You can really cut loose when you're just among friends.)
While I don't think I'd rush to check out a Mills-and-Diaw vocal group — not unless they add Matt Bonner and possibly Kawhi Leonard to the mix — I do think they acquitted themselves better than, say, Tony Allen, Shane Battier and Pat Riley. (Former Detroit Pistons guard Kim English definitely has these guys beat, though. Dirk Nowitzki ... that's debatable.) Keep up the good and fun work, guys, and see if you can get Tim Duncan to join you next time. I bet he does a killer rendition of "Outside" by Staind.
And now, because I shouldn't leave you on an Aaron Lewis note, here's the Fugees' proper cover:
And Ms. Flack's original:
Hat-tip to Jeff Garcia of Project Spurs.
