    Rihanna ditched an awards show to see a Clipper game because she’s awesome

    We were aware that billion-selling pop artist Rihanna was at the Los Angeles Clippers/Miami Heat game on Wednesday night -- how could you miss her? -- but we weren't aware of what she was passing on in order to see the Clips down the Heat in overtime. It may not have been the choicest of award shows, but apparently the People's Choice Awards were on Tuesday as well, and Rihanna took a pass in order to see her some Ryan Gomes.

    Via the NBA Players Association's Twitter feed, here's ContactMusic's take:

    At this week's People's Choice Awards, a number of stars were unable to attend to collect their awards or congratulate their fellow stars on receiving theirs. Rihanna 's absence, though, will be a particular blow to the organisers as she was actually in the neighbourhood - watching the Los Angeles Clippers' basketball match, according to Msn Music UK. Rihanna was nominated in the Favourite Pop Artist category and won the award for Favourite R&B Artist.

    To sum up, a beautiful, rich, and incredibly talented woman passed up on a mindless awards gathering that heaps of other celebrities attended so that she could drink beer, eat popcorn, and take in Lob City. As a result, everyone is allowed to beg off of work early today to go home and start writing poems about Rihanna.

      She's not a bandwagon fan at all. She actually seems to really like the LA sports teams. She was at the Lakers/Grizzlies game on sunday and stayed the whole time through that crap fest.
