Paul Pierce doesn't want his teammates wearing LeBron James' shoes

Paul Pierce and LeBron James have been going at it for years. The best small forward of the early aughts and the best small forward of Whatever Era We’re In Right Now met up in the 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014 playoffs, with LeBron taking three of five. The Eastern Conference (at least until this year) foes battled each other countless times in the regular season since James entered the league in 2003, and Pierce – old school even as a rookie – clearly likes to keep his turf free of outsider influence.

This is why it made sense that the first thing former Pierce teammate Marcin Gortat would bring up at the Washington Wizards’ media day on Monday, in regards to the departed former Wizard, had to do with the league’s best player:

Frankly, we’re surprised that the soon to be 38-year old Pierce could even recognize the LeBron’s 12s from last season. He doesn’t seem like the type to be keeping up on the latest fashion trends, which is probably why he agreed to wear the Los Angeles Clippers’ terrible uniforms this summer.
