After Kevin Durant showed such remarkable appreciation for his mother, Wanda Pratt, during the touching, heartfelt speech he made in accepting the 2013-14 NBA Most Valuable Player award on Tuesday, Ian Crouch of The Sporting Scene suggested that the NBA "should broadcast Durant’s speech this Mother’s Day, and on every one after it." Whether the league elects to do so remains to be seen, but the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association did put together a special Mother's Day-themed commercial featuring Pratt and borrowing audio from Durant's wonderful speech, and debuted the spot during Thursday's Game 2 between the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets:

It might not be quite as satisfying and emotionally gripping as the full 27-minute speech, but it's still pretty darn great. Get set to see it an awful lot as we head toward Mother's Day this weekend; it'll serve as a very welcome change of pace from the deluge of car, car-insurance and other ads we'll be inundated with. Less framily, more family.
