I appear to be among the happy few without a steely opinion on the HBO series ‘Girls,’ with my barely-researched take coming in the form of a statement that goes along the lines of, “if Lena Dunham wants to write self-absorbed material from his worldview of a confused person in her mid-20s, like every other boy in the entertainment industry has done for half a century, why not? And why the flack -- flack that every other navel-gazing boy for the last half-century seemed to avoid?”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, again, does not agree with me. Which is why his recent takedown of Dunham’s show caused a bit of a stir on the interwebs, as a grandfather-aged former athlete was seen as an odd choice to write a damning review of the show pitched full of characters that were born around the same time the NBA’s all-time leading scorer retired from basketball. Luckily, as we saw earlier this week, Kareem has a pretty good sense of humor about the reaction, taking time to go on TBS’ ‘Conan’ on Wednesday to give his thoughts on a variety of respected forms of art, up to and including the inescapable Whole Grain Fig Newtown phenomenon:

Thanks to Team Coco for the clip, and Kareem for the continued sense of humor. Now, Kareem, can you unblock me on Twitter? Our record collections are startlingly alike.
