San Antonio at Phoenix; Phoenix leads series, 1-0
Doesn't it feel like this series has a real edge to it? There is a desperate tone to this one, most likely because of the implied swan song that we can't help but hear when we look up and down the Phoenix and San Antonio roster.
The only thing that's happened so far, in this semifinal, is a home team winning Game 1. That's it. And yet this series feels like it is being played on Nervous Time, trading fours in a way that - while it remains unhurried - still feels a little pushy.
I do feel like the home court matters in this series a lot more than it does between the other veteran outfits out there. If the Spurs win tonight, this could really push Phoenix on its heels.
Then again, there we go immediately looking to underrate the Suns. Blame history, blame the silly mantra we've been told all our lives (that defense wins championships; which is nuts, because defense and offense contribute in equal parts), blame the presence of one of the greatest post scorers and defenders in this game's history.
I think it will be a fantastic watch. Pay attention, comment away.
