Detroit Pistons rookie Kim English sings a mean cover of Johnny Cash’s ‘A Boy Named Sue’ (Video)

At first, I was like, "Wow, it's kind of surprising that 'A Boy Named Sue' is one of Kim English's favorite songs. Sort of unexpected from a 24-year-old NBA rookie." And then I was like, "Oh, right — his name is Kim. Duh." It's all about finding and appreciating pieces of art you can relate to; if one such piece of art happens to be a fun song by one of the coolest guys in music history, then so much the better.

Unfortunately for English, his solid bout of live karaoke — which took place on Saturday, April 6 at the Minneapolis restaurant Hell's Kitchen before the Detroit Pistons took on the Minnesota Timberwolves — didn't translate into any playing time. The little-used second-round pick out of Missouri earned a Did Not Play-Coach's Decision in Detroit's 107-101 loss to the Wolves that evening, which just seems cold-blooded, if you ask me. Maybe coach Lawrence Frank is more of a Merle Haggard fan. Bummer.
