With news hitting on Monday that Derrick Rose will miss the remainder of the 2013-14 season after meniscus surgery — leaving him with just 50 regular and postseason games played since winning the 2010-11 NBA MVP award — legitimate fears are in place regarding his future as a go-to All-Star. After two significant knee surgeries in 19 months, will Rose ever regain the explosiveness that made him one of the NBA’s most entertaining players over the first three seasons of his career? Or is he doomed to tail off, not unlike some other star-crossed players of his ilk?
