Encouraging, if not strange news out of Philadelphia this recent weekend, after Philadelphia 76er scoring guard Lou Williams revealed that he was spared a robbery attempt because the thief in charge recognized Williams and his charity work.

Williams' recognizable face apparently stopped the would-be carjacker after he recognized the Sixer guard after drawing his gun on him while his car idled at a stoplight. Here's what Lou told the Philadelphia Daily News:

"A guy tried to rob me but decided not to because of whatever I do in the community," said Williams. "He's a Lou Williams fan, so he didn't rob me."

There's crime everywhere," said Williams. "I was debating whether to pull off to help the guy. The gun was already out. He did all the talking, and we came up with a solution before I could really say much. I treated him to McDonald's."

Later, Williams Tweeted this::

Lou Williams' close call

Nice. Williams didn't provide any other Twitter information about the incident on his account, but we do have visual confirmation that his daughter is absolutely adorable, and that she no doubt enjoyed having her father home safe for Christmas Day.
