BDL at the Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2010 Induction

There's something pretty dope going on Friday in Springfield, Mass. No, I'm not talking about the metronome-precise animated musical theater numbers -- those happen every day, because Springfield, Springfield is a hell of a town. I'm talking about the enshrinement of the newest members of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

This year's class features some seriously heavy hitters, including Scottie Pippen, Karl Malone, WNBA great Cynthia Cooper, legendary high school coach Bob Hurley Sr., Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss and posthumous honorees Dennis Johnson, Gus Johnson and Brazilian star Maciel "Ubiratan" Pereira. (There's loads more info about this year's inductees at NBA.com's Hall of Fame 2010 page.)

Two U.S. men's Olympic squads will also be enshrined as full teams -- the 1960 edition, paced by Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Jerry Lucas and Walt Bellamy, that eviscerated opponents by an average of 42.4 points per game en route to garnering gold in Rome, and this year's headliner, the 1992 Dream Team that dominated in Barcelona and is widely considered the greatest basketball team ever assembled.

First up on Friday's docket: A 10 a.m. ET inductee news conference featuring interviews with the honorees, special guests and much more. (The presser will be streaming live at NBA.com, if you want to follow the bouncing ball yourself.) Then, after some middle-of-the-day fun stuff, Friday night's enshrinement coverage comes to you live from Springfield Symphony Hall at 6 p.m. ET on NBA TV. Should be a great, great day.

I'll be here throughout the day, taking it all in and bringing you the type of journalistic excellence and jokes about chill bros you've come to expect from the Ball Don't Lie brand. I'll be cracking wise on Twitter, so come keep me company, guys. If you do, I promise* I'll snag you an official Class of 2010 Hall of Fame Jacket, courtesy of Sean John.
