Saturday night in Richmond marked the end of NASCAR's regular season and the start of the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup. While most races end with only the top-3 finishes coming to the media center for interviews, this one featured all 12 Chase drivers, including two, Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch, who'd had several run-ins out on the track over the course of the evening. And the entire press conference was one of the strangest in NASCAR history; see here for all the details.
The strangest moment of the evening came when Kurt Busch took offense to a reporter quoting him about being in Jimmie Johnson's head, denying he'd ever said that. But he had; it had been broadcast live on ABC and was spelled out word-for-word in the transcript. When presented with that transcript after the press conference, Busch simply tore it in half and walked out.
And now, thanks to the joys of the Internet, you too can see the video of what happened in the press conference after midnight on Saturday. Make your own call about what happened right here. And be sure to look at how Johnson handles the 22/48 question before making a final decision about who's in whose head. Enjoy.
