There's no way Texas race fans will ever miss a caution again

Being at the race is a tremendous experience -- waves of noise and drama rolling over you every moment -- but one thing that races lack is the ability to give you all the info you need right when you need it. For instance, the only way you often know a caution has happened is when the engines suddenly cut out.

Texas Motor Speedway is taking a new approach, and will be making sure that absolutely nobody misses a caution ever again. As you can see in the PhotoShopped pic above, the yellow lights will run the entire frontstretch, from Turn 4 through Turn 1.

Some specific details -- the lights will span 3,750 feet and will feature 168 eight-foot-tall amber LED lights, topped by another three-foot light. The lights will generate a total of about 250,000 lumens, and can be used in a variety of potentially seizure-inducing patterns.

The deal is a creation of Crossroads LED LLC, and marks their first-ever race track project. The system will debut this weekend at the WinStar World Casino 400K Camping World Truck Series race on Friday and the Firestone 550k IZOD IndyCar race on Saturday. Both events are night races, which will help. If you'll be there, make sure to send us some photos!
