Swan Racing announced Tuesday that it would field full-time teams for Parker Kligerman and Cole Whitt in the Sprint Cup Series in 2014.
The team started this season with Michael Waltrip behind the wheel at Daytona and then with David Stremme. After Stremme's departure in September, Whitt drove seven races, Kligerman drove two and Kevin Swindell drove one in the no. 30 car.
“When we launched Swan Racing we pledged to race hard every lap of every race. That’s what we have done and what we will continue to do. We learned a lot this year and now is the time to plan for the long term future by adding more resources to be more competitive,” Swan owner Brandon Davis said in a statement.
The car that Waltrip drove at Daytona was the Newtown tribute car. The highest finish the car had last season was a 12th by Stremme at Talladega. Kligerman finished 18th and 25th in his two starts and Whitt's highest finish was 27th.
Kligerman drove full-time in the Nationwide Series in 2013 for Kyle Busch Motorsports and had 13 top 10s. Whitt drove for JR Motorsports full-time in 2012, but a lack of funding relegated him to 15 starts with TriStar Motorsports in the No. 44 car.
No car numbers were revealed for either driver.
