Sorry Jimmie! I thought you were Jeff Gordon

Martin Truex Jr. promised that he'd race Jeff Gordon differently thanks to Gordon's actions at Sonoma. Apparently Truex also decided to extend that practice to all Hendrick cars.

In all seriousness, it's very hard to tell if he got into Jimmie Johnson or not. It certainly wasn't intentional, and given that there really isn't a clear-cut camera angle of the incident, Truex may not have even touched Johnson's rear quarterpanel in the first place. (Maybe it was that dreaded side draft that Kyle Busch talked about at Daytona?)

No matter what happened, the spin definitely ruined Johnson's day. He didn't sustain much -- if any -- damage in the incident, but after running at the tail end of the lead lap fell two laps down thanks to an unscheduled pit stop because of a tire problem. The four time champ never was able to get back on the lead lap and finished 25th.

But other drivers at the top of the standings had trouble too. Points leader Kevin Harvick fought an ill handling car all night and ultimately finished 34th after a fuel pump problem. Kurt Busch fell to fifth in the points after he too had a terrible car, comparing it at one point to driving a Nationwide car against a field of Cup cars. Busch finished 26th.
