Roger Penske got a hole-in-one at Augusta National
It was a very good weekend to be Roger Penske.
Of course, when you're a successful businessman and race team owner like Penske, you have a lot of good weekends. But as Team Penske's Joey Logano won the pole for Sunday's Sprint Cup Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas on Friday and Penske's Brad Keselowski won the Nationwide Series race Saturday and the Cup race Sunday, Penske was having even more sporting success.
He had a hole-in-one at Augusta National Golf Club, site of The Masters. It was on No. 4 on the Par-3 course.
When he was asked about the hole-in-one after Sunday's race, Penske wondered what all the fuss was about and dedicated the win to William Clay Ford, the Detroit Lions owner who died Sunday at age 88. Penske's team fields Fords in NASCAR.
"As far as the hole‑in‑one, I never knew I'd get so much publicity on a hole‑in‑one and the next minute they're asking me where," Penske said."... it was at Augusta, so I was very fortunate to be a member there, and we know we lost William Clay Ford today, a patriarch of the Ford family, someone who obviously that's meant so much to Detroit, the automobile business on a worldwide basis and certainly to the big three, and I take my hat off and my thoughts and prayers to his family. It's ironic, he and I joined Augusta the same time back many years ago and to think today we won this race. So I'm going to give this race to William Clay Ford."
