Get ready for 800-mile Monday at Texas Motor Speedway

Another week, another Sunday rainout, but what that means is that we've got some more Workday Racing. And since both Sprint and Nationwide races were rained out this weekend — perhaps a bit of cosmic karma for Eddie Gossage playing fast and loose with the truth in promotional run-ups to these races? — we're in for 800 miles of Monday racing.

That doesn't happen a whole lot.

Matter of fact, it appears this is the first time that two complete races have been run on a Monday. Back in February 2008 at Auto Club, NASCAR ran both races on a Monday, though the Sprint Cup one was a continuation of the day before.

Texas is throwing open the gates and allowing anybody who held a ticket to either race to come in, which, as ESPN's Terry Blount notes, is no doubt going to cause a bit of consternation should two ticketholders have a ducat for the same seat.

But for the vast majority of fans who won't have to fight for a seat, Monday is a fine day of racing. And for guys like Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano, who will be running all 800 miles, this is going to be a long, long day.

So enjoy some weekday racing; if you happen to be at work and can turn on a computer near you, check out the Yahoo! NASCAR chat right here. Let's go Monday racing!
