Holy hype, Danica Patrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are feuding! So says the National Enquirer, which is claiming that Danica wants to knock off Earnhardt en route to being a great NASCAR driver. Shocker!
Gotta love this quote:
"Dale is livid at Danica for talking trash about him behind his back," revealed a source. "He feels he's giving her entrance into the NASCAR world and teaching her his tricks - and she's saying how she can beat him. It's rubbing Dale the wrong way. He hates being bad-mouthed by somebody he feels owes him gratitude."
And it goes from there, with Dale glad that he finished ahead of Danica in the Daytona Nationwide race, otherwise "he would never have heard the end of it." Dale also feels "double-crossed" by Danica, according to another "source."
Now, there are a couple things to be aware of here. First, you need to take any unnamed sources with a shakerful of salt; I could teach a class in this stuff after months of covering the Tiger Woods story. Second, if a quote seems too good to be true -- and the ones in this article are so tailor-made anti-Dale/Danica that I'm highly suspicious -- chances are it probably is manufactured.
Third, though, the Enquirer does have a bit of credibility. They were on target with the aforementioned Tiger Woods scandal, and amazingly enough, the Pulitzer Prize review board has accepted their work on the John Edwards infidelity scandal as worthy of consideration. So maybe it's not totally off the beam.
Whatever, it's certainly nothing worse than we've speculated right here. And any catfight between Danica and Dale is going to be red meat for all of us.
