Stewart-Haas Racing officially announced Tuesday that Mobil 1 would replace Old Spice as Stewart's second primary sponsor for the 2011 season.

The move, which had been rumored for some time, also means that Mobil 1 will be an associate sponsor for Ryan Newman and will provide Stewart-Haas with racing oil. Mobil 1 is leaving Sam Hornish Jr. and Penske Racing at the end of the year because Shell-Pennzoil's deal with Penske and Kurt Busch.

According to the release, Mobil 1 will be Stewart's primary sponsor for 11 races and an associate sponsor for the other 25 points races as well as the two non-points races. Office Depot will remain as Stewart's other primary sponsor.

Jeff Gordon is still looking for primary sponsorship help for the 2011 season as long-time sponsor DuPont is looking to scale back involvement. Mobil 1 wasn't a candidate to move to the No. 24 because Hendrick Motorsports has a deal with Quaker State for oil and lubricants for its race teams. Stewart-Haas gets its engines from Hendrick, but Rick Hendrick said that teams like Stewart-Haas did not have to use Quaker State, opening the door for Mobil 1 to move to Stewart's team.

Gordon and Wal-Mart were also rumored to be a potential partnership, but that deal fell through.
