Big sponsorship news coming out of Hendrick Motorsports Tuesday, as Farmers Insurance will be the majority sponsor of Kasey Kahne's No. 5 Chevrolet, starting in 2012.
The agreement covers the 2012-2014 seasons, and will involve Farmers being the primary sponsor for 22 races. On the other races, Farmers will also have prominent positioning. (That's Mark Martin's car from this past weekend's Kansas race; Kahne's car will likely look somewhat different.)
This builds on the existing partnership between Farmers and Hendrick; Farmers is running five races for the No. 5 in 2011.
Kahne will start with Hendrick next year, and his contract runs through 2015. "To have this kind of support, and to have it come together so early, is such a boost for all of us," Kahne said, the rare case where you can actually hear someone exhaling in relief in a press release.
Still undetermined: where Mark Martin will be racing in 2012, so don't even ask.
