James Finch says he’s sold Phoenix Racing
Phoenix Racing owner James Finch says the sale of his team is complete, but didn't reveal the details about the buyer.

“I can’t tell you yet,” Finch said.
Finch added that he will assist the new owner through the Sprint Cup race at Atlanta on Sept. 1. That race will mark the end of Finch’s 23-year run as a Sprint Cup and Nationwide team owner.
Finch said the new owner would be planning an announcement on Friday or Monday about the acquisition. An ESPN.com report cited sources that said Harry Scott, co-owner of Turner Scott Motorsports in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series, had interest in purchasing the team.
Since losing sponsor Miccosukee Resorts after the tribe decided to cut funding from its motorsports sponsorships, consistent sponsorship has been a struggle for the organization, which has fielded cars for Regan Smith, AJ Allmendinger, Bobby Labonte, Austin Dillon and Jacques Villeneuve this season. Last year, Kurt Busch drove for the team for 29 of the first 30 races until he moved over to Furniture Row.
Phoenix's only Cup Series win came in 2009, when Brad Keselowski won at Talladega -- the race more commonly remembered for Carl Edwards' scary impact with the catchfence after he spun off Keselowski's bumper in the trioval. The team started competing in the Cup Series in 1990 and has run 246 races with a myriad of drivers.
