Daytona announces plans to repave slightly toasted Turn 3
You may recall a bit of a fiery incident at Daytona a couple weeks back. The track has announced that it'll be cleaning up the mess that Juan Pablo Montoya created, once and for all.
After this weekend's Daytona 200 motorcycle festivities, the track will dig up and repave the portion of Turn 3 affected by the jet dryer fire. Track officials are confident that there will be no issues during the Daytona 200, and AMA Pro Racing officials have signed off on that plan as well. Lane Construction, which handled the repaving in 2010, will also handle this project. No word on whether they'll be offering burnt souvenirs.
"Once this work is complete, we expect to have no further issues related to the jet dryer crash," Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood III said. "We'll be ready to go for the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola in July."
No word on whether they'll be sending the bill to the 42 hauler.
