Darlington to Labor Day official for NASCAR's 2015 schedule

Darlington Raceway's move back to the Labor Day Weekend is official.

NASCAR released the 2015 Sprint Cup Series schedule on Tuesday and Darlington's 2015 race will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6. In a schedule reveal that was built up considerably the trade of dates between Darlington, Atlanta and Bristol was the only significant change delivered. And it was a change reported on Friday.

Atlanta Motor Speedway, where the Cup Series is racing Sunday, officially moves to the second race of the season. Atlanta will follow the Daytona 500. The track that followed the Daytona 500 this year, Phoenix Raceway, is now the fourth race of the year. NASCAR will go from Las Vegas Motor Speedway to Phoenix to Auto Club Speedway over three consecutive weeks.

The only change to the Chase schedule is a simple date swap. Charlotte Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway swap places with each other. Charlotte is now the fourth race of the Chase and Kansas is fifth.

The last off-weekend of the season is now the final weekend of August. That's a very good move, as the stretch of races from Indianapolis to the end of the season without a week off is brutal.
