Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. could be more than a band in the future

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is a band. There's a possibility there could also be a Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. human being in the future too.

Friday, Dale Earnhardt Jr., who got engaged to girlfriend Amy Reimann last week in Germany, was asked about the possibility of having children. And Junior answered in the affirmative.

“I think the greatest accomplishment in life is to be able to raise a child," Junior said. "That would be awesome. I have felt that way for a long time, but it’s just a timing thing. You have to get married first and find that person that you want to spend the rest of your life with. That is definitely in the future. She wants to have kids and I’ve always kind of wanted to have kids. That is definitely something we will be looking at.”

OK, we realized that if the couple had children and had a boy, he would not be "Junior Junior." He could be Trey. Or he could not be named Dale at all. We're not going to analyze names. It's not our space. We just had to jump at the chance to make a Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. reference. They're a good band.

And hey, maybe one of Junior's future children would be racing. Junior would likely be long-retired by the time he or she made the Cup Series, but all of the Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans who become Chase Elliott fans in the future could have another easy alternative when Elliott retires.

Junior said he had planned last week's marriage proposal to Reimann for quite some time. He proposed at a church while the couple was in Germany on an Earnhardt genealogy research trip.

“I’ve been planning on it for several months," Junior said. "I was hoping for years that Amy and I would get married and it just seemed like over this last year, it made more sense to me and that the timing was right. And I picked that particular spot just because I wanted her to feel special. We talked about this trip for a while. I told her about this trip and we talked about it for two or three years and had done a ton of work on the genealogy stuff to understand what we were doing and making sure we were doing the right thing and going the right places. So, she kind of knew how important the trip was. I think to do it at that particular time, at that moment while we were in that church, may make that moment more memorable for her. And I thought it was just a great place to do it ... Every other spot that I could think of just didn’t measure up, you know? It just wasn’t good enough or special enough for her.”
