2012 season in the rear view: Travis Kvapil

Vitals: 27th in the points standings. 0 wins, 0 top 5s, 1 top 10. 3 DNFs

Moment to remember: There's quite the restrictor plate theme to the best moments for drivers in this section of the standings, eh? Travis Kvapil's best finish of the year also came as a product of that morass in turns 3 and 4 on the final lap at Talladega where he finished eighth.

Moment to forget: At Indianapolis, Kvapil blew a tire and crashed after completing 40 laps. He finished 37th.

The wrap: Well, what can you say? Kvapil has become a consistent, if not household, name in NASCAR by being steady but not spectacular. And with a lower-budget team, he was a perfect driver to have to keep the fab shop expenses below budget.

The 2003 Camping World Truck Series team hasn't had a true chance with a top Sprint Cup team, and it's likely that he never will at this point in his career, but that doesn't mean he isn't a serviceable Cup driver. He missed the Daytona 500 because of Danica Patrick's presence -- David Reutimann was in the No. 93 -- but was consistently running at the finish and the plans to be replaced in the car by Reutimann eight more times were scuttled after Darlington.
