UFN 18 roundup: Bader injury, post-fight awards and record attendance

Ryan Bader was a winner over Carmelo Marrero but lacked explosiveness at times. There may have been a reason. Bader told Cage Writer that he felt his knee pop in the first round. He was told by the doctor on scene at the Sommet Center that he there was looseness in the knee that Bader may have torn his MCL. He mentioned that the left knee was swelling but is hoping that he didn't tear the ACL as well.

The post-fight awards went to Tyson Griffin and Rafael dos Anjos, who traded leather for three rounds. They got $30,000 for Fight of the Night. Bader's teammate Aaron Simpson got the bonus for Knockout of the Night for his finish of Tim McKenzie. There were lots of good submissions on the card but Rob Kimmons got the award for putting Joe Vedepo to sleep with a guillotine choke.

The event set an Ultimate Fight Night attendance record. The Sommet Center was filled with 10,267 and pulled in a $626,077 gate.
