UFC veteran Brian Bowles charged with meth, marijuana and valium possession
Former WEC champion and UFC veteran Brian Bowles is facing six felony charges, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, marijuana and methamphetamine possession, and possession of diazepam (valium) with intent to distribute.
Bowles, 34, was arrested on Jan. 15 after Jackson County (Ga.) Sheriffs say they discovered a large quantity of drugs at the former UFC star's home while they were investigating a tip that a woman with an outstanding warrant was at the premises. Although the woman in question was not at the residence, another woman with an outstanding warrant from a probation violation was.
Here’s what happened next, according to the incident report from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
After a search of the immediate area, investigators found a quantity of methamphetamine. A Search Warrant was executed at the residence and a quantity of marijuana, other narcotics, a gun and numerous packaging materials were also located within the home.
[Rhomney Marie] Moon and [Bowles] were both arrested and transported to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Moon has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule IV Drug (Valium), Possession of Schedule IV Drug with Intent to Sell, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. Bowles is charged with the same. Both are currently incarcerated.
This isn’t the first brush with the law for Bowles, who was booked on suspicion of DUI in 2010 in Clarke County (Ga.). He was also picked up by Jackson County Sheriff's Department in 1999, 2003 and 2007. He spent five days in jail after the 2003 arrest, according to Jackson County Sheriff's department records obtained by Cagewriter.
Bowles, 0-2 in his last two outings, hasn’t fought since a 2013 TKO loss to George Roop at UFC 160. His subsequent post-fight drug test registered a testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio of 20:1 – more than three times the legal limit of 6:1 allowed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
