UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt wants Josh Barnett next

UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt wants Josh Barnett next

Fresh off his walk-off KO over Roy Nelson, Mark Hunt already knows who and when he wants to fight next. "I was thinking, Josh Barnett, he's one above me at number five, maybe Dana can put me and him on that show, on Sydney," Hunt said during a Monday interview with MMA Fighting.

The "Super Samoan" is originally from New Zealand but calls Australia home. Apparently, he's healthy enough to fight again, in about a month, on that Nov. 8 Sydney card.

As for why he wants Barnett...well there's revenge, for starters. Way back in 2006, Barnett submitted Hunt with an arm bar when they both competed in the now defunct Pride promotion.

That loss snapped a five fight win streak for the kickboxer Hunt, and was the start of a six fight losing skid. Since then, Hunt has gone 5-2-1 in the UFC's heavyweight division, with four of his wins coming by way of knockout.

At 40 years old, Hunt finds himself near the top of the heavyweight class, and is eager to earn a title shot. He sees Barnett as a step above him and a way to get closer to gold.

"I love rematches," Hunt went on.

"I've never lost a rematch, Josh Barnett, me and you my friend, we've got a date. He's No. 5 in the world, I want to fight guys in the top 10. I'd like to fight and get close to that title shot, That's all I'm interested in my whole purposes is to fight for the world title. He's one above me, so why don't you put him and me together."

For his part, Barnett has not fought since getting knocked out in Dec. 2013 by Travie Browne. Would you want to see Hunt vs. Barnett II, next?
