According to major ticket search engine company, Seat Geek, this Saturday’s UFC 167 in Las Vegas is the most in-demand UFC event since at least 2009. Seat Geek is a search engine that pulls together ticket listings from all major secondary ticket websites so that fans can compare listings for live events.
Seat Geek representative Connor Gregoire says that the company’s data on the UFC goes back to 2009 and that UFC 167 has the highest average ticket price they’ve ever recorded and also that this week saw a significant increase in the lowest prices available for tickets to the UFC’s 20th anniversary show, headlined by Georges St. Pierre and Johny Hendricks fighting in a welterweight title bout.
The average UFC 167 ticket price is $580 per ticket. Prices on the secondary market are almost double what they were for UFC 166 in Houston last month, according to Seat Geek. Tickets for that event drew an average resale price of $302.
Within one 24 hour period this week, the so called “get-in” price for UFC 167, that is, the lowest priced tickets, spiked from $220 to $311. Seat Geek says that their data shows UFC 167 tickets being re-sold for as much as $2,800.
The average price paid for floor seats at UFC 167, which will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, is $1,944 per ticket. Before UFC 167, the most expensive UFC ticket that Seat Geek has recorded data for was UFC 137, which was headlined by BJ Penn and Nick Diaz at the Mandalay Bay, also in Las Vegas. That card had an average resale ticket price of $578.
The graph below shows the top eight UFC events since 2009 by average ticket price. Seven of those eight were held in Las Vegas, with the one exception being UFC 149, which was held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
It is clear that Las Vegas fans, and others willing to travel to Vegas for fights, are excited about UFC 167. One wonders how well the televised event will fare on pay per view.
