Season 11 of "The Ultimate Fighter" just started and the UFC is already working on Season 12. Tryouts were held last Thursday in Charlotte. The season will feature lightweights and light heavyweights. Names like Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett and Jason Guida turned out. As far as the coaches, that's anyone's guess. UFC president Dana White teased the media a bit (video - 1:20 mark) after UFC 111 saying he was working on something big. That came during a discussion of Georges St. Pierre's next opponent. Yahoo! Sports' lead MMA writer Kevin Iole discussed some of the possibilities (5:50 mark).
Iole also discussed some of the recent ratings and numbers for UFC shows. It was interesting to hear that the $45-$55 pay-per-view for UFC 111 actually beat Showtime's free-view of a very good fight between Arthur Abraham and Andre Dirrell (2:36 mark). It's also a bit shocking to learn that the day Versus returned to DirecTV it set a record for a regular season NHL broadcast. But that number was still crushed a few days later by the initial UFC on Versus broadcast.
