Travis Browne will fight for a UFC title shot next against Fabricio Werdum, that is, if the Hawaiian can come to terms with the UFC on a new contract. “There’s no deal done between the UFC and Travis Browne right now," his manager John Fosco of VFD Marketing recently told MMA Junkie.
After his win over Josh Barnett, Browne jumped to the front of the UFC heavyweight title contenders, along with Fabricio Werdum. Champion Cain Velasquez is currently out with an injured shoulder.
A spring title eliminator's bout between Browne and Werdum has been talked of but Browne will need to re-sign with the UFC to get one step closer to his dream. Fosco also said that Browne most certainly "wants to be a UFC champion," and expects that the UFC and the fighter's representation will come to terms shortly.
"All the talks that have been had up to this point indicate that we will be getting something done in the very near future," he said.
“We have no reason to think [the UFC] won’t [sign Browne],” he said. “From the indications thus far, every indicator points to our interests being aligned, and both sides will be satisfied.”
