Soszynski experiments with his hands on Gusmao's face

For some reason, the betting public around UFC 98 was all over Andre Gusmao. Gusmao moved from an underdog at plus-120 to a minus-170 favorite. One problem, the Brazilian hasn't shown the ability to stirke at the highest level. He made the mistake of repeatedly switching from a conventional to southpaw stance. As the first round moved along, Krzysztof "The Polish Experiment" Soszynski started landing his left. He drilled Gusmao with a right hook against the cage with 1:53 left in the round and followed it with a straight left. After some wild misses, Soszynski landed a picture perfect right hand (pictured) on Gusmao's chin. He went down in a heap pinning his right leg under his body. Soszysnki nailed him with one more right on the ground as referee Herb Dean stepped in to end the destruction at 3:17 of the first.

Soszynski, a longtime veteran of IFL, moves to 3-0 in the UFC and 18-8-1 overall.
