    Roy Nelson’s excellent adventure includes sleeping in a capsule and, um, feasting on blowfish testicles

    Roy Nelson probably didn't need to prove his toughness anymore after he survived the beating he took from Fabricio Werdum in their heavyweight match on Feb. 4 at UFC 143 in Las Vegas. In video from Dana White's video blog, Nelson is seen complaining that he felt he won the fight, which provokes a chuckle from UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta.

    But if you didn't believe in the big man's toughness before, perhaps you will after watching the tour of Japan that he did while in Tokyo for UFC 144, which is Saturday at the Saitama Super Arena.

    Nelson went to a Buddhist temple and showed off some strange sleeping quarters, which more closely resembles a dog kennel, at the Asakusa Capsule Hotel.

    By far, though, the highlight of the tour is when Nelson & Co. went to a Tokyo restaurant and ate blowfish. Not only did Nelson eat blowfish filet, he also ate blowfish testicles.

    It's hard to tell whether or not he likes it, though the odd guttural sound he made after swallowing the blowfish testicles might give away his true feelings.

      Roy is exactly the type of heavyweight that the UFC needs to target to keep. he may not win every time but you know you're goign to get 100% effort.

      didn't Roy Nelson get his face tenderized by Werdum like 2 weeks ago? no bruises, black eyes, crooked nose, stitches, nothin! he must heal really fast

      Done with this guy. The way he reacted after getting smashed by Werdum shows how seriously he takes the fight game. All the people clamoring for him to drop to 205, I laugh at you because that will never happen.

        I didn't actually think it would happen. I don't believe in miracles. But it would be nice to see the guy at least try to take training seriously.

      I think Roy should get the toughness award cause I don't think any other guy in the UFC can handle what Roy has. If he doesnt ever get a championship in the UFC he should be known in the world as the toughest dude alive and he's been hit by the best probably 4 of the top 5 heavyweight in the world I think if you shot him with a gun he look at you like is this all you got

        I agree that right now he has the toughest face in the UFC. Still a mystery how he got knocked out by Arlovski. (in a fight he got screwed by the ref)

        If you're gonna lose, losing like Roy does is about the best way to do it. Of course wins would be better.

        How can one train in an aerobic activity year in and year out and still be a blob? I'm not expecting the guy to look like Kongo. But his fat gimmick is nothing to brag about when he is getting murdered at HW by the contenders. It is one thing to KO TUF kids, it is another to win the belt and keep it. I guess he is just collecting paychecks until White fires him. Then perhaps a few fights in Japan and he is done.

      The last time Roy saw, and will ever see 205 was his 15th birthday party. Cofield has a better chance of spelling nonchalant correctly than Nelson does of seeing 205. This is the standard bearer of toughness and grit in your HW division?? No wonder the mainstream laugh at MMA.
